JUNE 3rd 2015

At our next meeting on June 3rd  we will welcome Doreen Golding who is the Pearly Queen for Old Kent Road and Bow Bells.  She will be telling us about her life as a Pearly Queen.

During this meeting we will be asking for your help again!!  This time it is for helpers at the Eastbrookend Country Fair on June 7th.  We still need help on the stall so sign up or let us know you can help.
We are also asking for baked goods to sell.  Again let us know what you can donate and you can pick up some packaging and labels for your goods.
This event is usually very well attended and is a good fund raiser.  We will probably also be running a tombola so any donations would be gratefully accepted.

Just to let you know that the Ingrebourne Group meeting was a success.  There were ten of us from First Ladies and all together about a hundred attending.  Our Cake stall raised £86 so thank you to everyone who baked for us.  We might well be running this annual Group meeting in  2017!  So get your thinking caps on to come up with ideas!!

Looking forward to seeing you all on wednesday June 3rd for an interesting talk and lots of tea and chat!!

We are in charge of the Cake/Jam  stall and I am looking for some donations to take along. I can pick up any donations on the 19th.  Let me know !
We are also looking for a couple of people to dress up in 60's/70's style for a walk through part at the end of the Talk.  You can change into the clothing at the hall and its only for a few minutes!   If anyone has some 60's/70's style clothing we can borrow we would be grateful.

April Ist 2015

APRIL 1st 2015

Please remember to bring along your nomination forms or fill one in at the meeting for being on the Committee.  We need new members.

We are also going to do a ballot to send one member to the Royal garden party.  So if you are not going to be present at next week's meeting or you don't want to be put in the ballot then let us know.

Those members not successful will have their names forwarded  to  Essex Federation to be put in for a ballot of spare places!

The Ingrebourne Group Meeting will be on May 20th at Harold Hill Community Centre on Gooshays Drive.  The tickets for this event are now with Rachael and are £6 each. We would like to see as many of you as possible attend this meeting and help us with the Baking and Preserves Stall.  The speaker is Louise Reed talking about the 100 years of the WI and we have been asked to have two people dressed up in 6o's style e.g. minis, flower power.  The other WIs are also dressing up to suit other decades e.g. VAD nurses, flappers.  Those dressed up will walk through the hall from one door to the other!  If anyone can help us with suitable clothing we would be most grateful!!!

See you next week at the meeting,

February 25th 2015

February 25th 2015

  • This month we have Gill Venton coming to talk to us about the Congo Sewing Project.
  • We have the Annual Meeting coming up in May so we need you to start thinking about whether you could put yourself forward or nominate someone to become a member of the First Ladies committee.
  • If you would like to become a member of the committee then you need to have a photo and a few sentences about yourself to be handed in to Rachael by the April meeting.
  • The month of May is also when the Spring Group Meeting will be held at the Community Centre in Harold Hill. tickets will be £6 and it is an afternoon meeting.
  • We also need to think about how we as First Ladies WI  are going to celebrate the WI Centenary later on in the year.

Don't forget we are always grateful for home made goodies at our meetings and donations for the Raffle!!

Friday, 30 January 2015

This meeting we are welcoming a speaker from Haven House Hospice.
We still haven't decided on a charity to support this year so can you please bring along some more ideas or we decide from the three that have been put forward already.
As you know this year is the centenary year of the Women's Institute. There will be various events going on and we would like to celebrate in our own way at the same time as our 5th birthday in October. Can you please let us know your ideas about how we do this.
We are also looking for a couple of members who would be willing to organise social events such as a Christmas meal and the august picnic!
I am now back on both feet and would like to thank you for your kind wishes, cards and flowers. Hope to see you all next week for the usual interesting and sociable evening.

January 7th 2015
Tonight is registration and payment of subscription night.  Please have your forms and money ready. This year is the centenary year of the NFWI and there will be lots of things going on and hopefully as many of you as possible will join in!

This meeting we will be discussing and voting for the resolution that the First Ladies think should go to the Annual Meeting in June.
You can read about them in your last WI Life magazine.
We will also have the badge making machine there so we can learn each others names by wearing them to meetings.
There will be lots of other topics to discuss e.g. What do we want to do as First Ladies to celebrate the Centenary in September?

Bring along your craft work and be ready to catch up with everyone as you always do.

I probably won't be with you because I have managed to Break my leg.  You will no doubt hear all about it tomorrow.
Enjoy your first meeting of the year.
